Should your companion get sick, PVA's knowledgeable staff will provide you with the best in diagnostic services. We offer an array of in-house testing including radiographs and bloodwork such as blood chemistries and electrolytes to look for metabolic disease, hematocrits to check for anemia and blood clotting times. Fecal exams are important to rule out intestinal parasites. We also have the ability to test for common viruses in our laboratory such as Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Canine Parvovirus. Canine heartworm disease and Lyme disease can be diagnosed in minutes. Our commitment to continuing education ensures that your pet will be receiving state of the art medicine and surgery.

PVA also offers full surgical services. All surgery is done with a carbon dioxide laser. Laser energy seals nerve endings and blood vessels as it moves through tissue. Therefore, there is less pain, bleeding and swelling during recovery. Carefully chosen anesthetic protocols and vigilant monitoring make your pet's surgery as safe as possible. We believe in being proactive in pain management to keep your companion comfortable.

Dental health is an area often overlooked by pet owners. Dental infections can spread to other organs in the body and damage the heart, kidneys or liver. The staff at PVA can show you the different options for helping to prevent dental disease. If your pet already has tartar buildup or gingivitis, he or she may need a dental cleaning. Under anesthesia, we will examine the mouth, treat any infection present and extract any painful, loose or permanently damaged teeth. Any tartar will be scaled away and the teeth will be polished smooth.
